Guys, looking for help with subsonic loads for a 7 tcu in a contender, 14"barrel.

I'm interested in any loads in the 130, 145, 160 grain boolit range. If someone has quickload I'd be interested in data for all three weights of boolits.

My primary powder of interest is 2400, but I'd also be interested in loads using trailboss, unique, 4227, etc.

Any help is greatly appreciated...

Best regards,
DrB

Alright, so my best starting guess is about 8-9 gr 2400 with a 160 gr bullet.

Anyone have a better estimate?

Not sub-sonic, but I have done some work with the lee 130 gr pp'ed & 4198, showed alot of promise. Got the load out of loadbooks for the T/C calibers, if that's any help. I have not tried the rcbs 145 sil mould yet.

wayne, got a membership at the forum you suggested and searched for 7 tc and subsonic loads last night. Found a fair number of loads and really liked mikes 7tc brass tutorial... Always nice to see a well done article. I haven't yet come across any subsonic loads though.

I started to try the chat, but it doesn't work well on my droid phone so I put the silhouette trail boss question off till I'm on a laptop.

My suppressor is finally arriving this week. (I greatly underestimated how long the class 3 papers would take to clear batfe).

I'm eager to experiment with the contender suppressed. I get great groups out of it with full power loads.

Thanks for the pointers.

Best regards,
DrB

I ran QL with a 139gr Hornady using Alliant 2400 assuming a 20 inch barrel. If you want to keep the load subsonic, you are going to top out between 6.7 and 7.0 gr depending on elevation etc.

In a 10" barrel, I've been using 15.8 grains of SR 4759, it's an old Imsha load for the 135 grain Lyman bullet.
