shortened 311291 redux

Some months back I shortened a single cavity 311291 to remove the gas check shank, leaving a PB bullet similar to the 311241. My thanks again to the fellas who coached me, especially the tutorial about filing "vent scratches" on the freshly ground/polished surfaces. I cast up a pile of them way back then but one thing led to another and it took until last weekend to actually fire some at a target. I loaded a fistful into .303 Savage cases over 6.6 gr. Bullseye, no filler, and was pleasantly surprised to get 5-shot 1½" groups at 100 yds.- four of them in a row. That was with a tang sight too, no scope, off the bench on a perfect sunny day. I just love it when a plan comes together like that! I don't think I'll even bother jockeying the powder charge. Now I can't wait to try them in a .30 bolt gun w/scope.
