A co-worker gave me an ingot he said came from a print shop. It is 20#, 26" long and 6 1/2" diameter being rounded but flat on the bottom. Definite pour marks in it. It is shaped like a needle with the eye end being open at the end. Anyone seen this before? It is very hard. Would this be consistent with lino? Thanks, Mac.

Sounds like typical ingot of Lino to me. I have purchased them before, looked just like you described.

Yup, the linotype machine lead pot had a chain hoist, and would feed these long bars of alloy into the pot as needed.

Lino!

Great find. Don't you just love the words "Gave Me..."?

I have one of those I bought at a gunshow. 23#. Not sure when I'll use it. Good score!
