Need help!

My focus has been on my Krags.

for better or worse, I have a young fellow under my wings who's family doesn't have guns or hunt.

I've cast up some of Lee's flat point 170 grain boolits, 50/50, water drop't.

For powders I have 4759, 2400 and Unique ON HAND.

The lad has his a new old Winchester Model 94 given to him by his grandfather. Luke and I will be getting together tomorrow after school to load the shells that I have already prepped.

Suggested loads?

Thanks in advance,

Mark

5 or 6 gr. of most any of the fast shotgun powders should work really well. I've used RedDot, 700-X and 231 W. I have a 94 AE Trapper that I use to start kids with centerfire. Works very well. Very light recoil, not too noisey, easy to shoot, great action for a kid. Great action for an old guy too!

For a beginner, I recommend 15.0 grains 2400 or 22.0 IMR 3031. Either will run out in th 1500-1600 fps range.

What weight Boolit or J word? I have some 150 gr. Sierra RN J-words that I was thinking of using a light load for plinking.

O-k, not going to get any feedback on shotgun powder. Any reduced loads on rifle powders with 150 gr. boolit/j-word weights?

Get your self some trail boss. That is one of the best powders I have used for reduced loads. It is really easy to work with just fill the case to the base of the bullet and that is your max load. It is very bulky too so you cant double charge with it either. And another powder for safe reduced loads is AA5744. Hope that helps

Looking at it but the question was for SG powders. I have a limited supply of powders and one I have alot of is 700X.
