This will probably go cheap. Should be near pure lead, all from battery terminals. If only I was closer....

Currently the bid is $190 for 7700# of lead...

How in the heck are you supposed to mutiliate 4 tons of scrap lead and metal on site...seems a bit stupid to me.

Alot of the terminals we make at work have about 3% antimony in them. The harder lead keeps the bolt thats used to tighten it up from stretching the terminal to much.

Bids up to $1,140 now -

It would take alot of propane to mutilate that much lead...

Another member here and I bid on a 1500lb lot of decommissioned nuclear medicine containers at a military hospital. I got the details of what constituted "mutilation" and basically it meant make them totally unuseable for their intended purpose. My intent was to throw a 2'-diameter oak tree section in the back of the truck and use a 5-lb sledgehammer to smash them flat. That load went for almost $2500, we backed out at $600. As I recall we thought we had it until the end, apparently the salvage people are "sniping" commodities auctions too, so don't get your hopes up.

Pretty ridiculous to require mutilation of scrap metal. Is there some sort of evil use for battery terminals that the gov't is worried about?

Looks like an awful lot of non-pb scrap in that 7700lbs.

That amount of lead would about fill a pair of 55-gallon drums.

Looks like a lot of COPPER scrap in there, worth way more per pound than the lead. Don't tell them you might resell it though, it's probably strictly forbidden if this is like many other goobermunt auctions. The mutilation requirement is standard protocol for lots of these auctions.

Here is another sale in Texas, this one for scrap steel.
http://www.govliquidation.com/auction/view?id=4731290&convertTo=USD

I would bid but 6,000,000 pounds is a little more than I need.

Maybe the government should go into the scrap business to balance the budget. They sure have a lot to sell including a full size 747.

most of that junk they should pay someone to remove.

Looks like a lot of steel contamination by weight with all of those bolts too.

So, how does a guy "mutilate" a lead bar so it is not useable?

http://www.govliquidation.com/auction/view?id=4819830&convertTo=USD

My guess is set each brick up on two pieces of I-beam, then hit it with a sledge hammer to bend them, making them...whatever...

lol theres a lot in ft meade md id like but, how the heck am i going to destroy freaking 19,000 lbs of material?????? it would be tough enough to remove it. this isnt' a job for a normal person and i do realize if they bust the lot up into 1000 lb they would have to escort way more people than one lot. although id love it if they did
