How much would a 45-70 RCBS 300gr RNFP with a gascheck starting at 1800fps and zeroed in at 100yrds drop at 200 & 250 yrds?
These will be shot out of a Marlin SS 45-70 Lever eveloution rifle.

I plan on taking it deer hunting but don't have a place to target shoot more than 100 yrds. I will be using a Leupold 4-12 40mm AO scope on this rifle. Can't see the rear sight anymore just a blurr.

Thanks for your help.

There are some "depends" involved such as heigth of scope above bore, actual BC of bullet, elevation hunting at, etc. These should be fairly close but only actual shooting at such ranges will give you the correct answers;

Yards drop
150 -5"
200 -15"
250 -31"
300 -52"

Thanks Larry looks like if I put the cross hair on the deers back at 150 to 200 yrds I should be able to drop him not shoot under.

Isn't a buck about 18" from back to belly?

BTW when I run these load to 2000fps (over a crony) the action starts popping open like they are too hot.
Am I right to assume this or is it a sign of something else wrong?

The action may be popping open because the rifle goes backwards and your right hand (in the lever) stays still, half-heartedly working the action. Happens to me when I'm not snugged in tight with thumpers.
Or maybe it's popping due to pressure issues, I doubt it though. What/how much powder are you using when that happens?

I am going to start a new thread on the poping open problem.

Swede: don't feel bad,,, nobody else here can see the sights either.

See your other thread for my opinion on the popping open problem.
