I went to the range last evening after it had rained, and after I had shot as much as i wanted to I noticed a lot of cast boolits just lying on the ground. So I got a grocery sack out of the trash and in 15 minutes I had picked up 20# of clean cast boolits, if I do that each time I go it will not take long to have lots of lead.

I do that too. Usually has antimony and tin already in it, also.

Using the same system, I went from the frustration of striking out looking for wheel weights to the having more lead than I need. I just wish more shooters of my range shot cast bullets. I am averaging >80% jacketed.

...but jackets are usually copper. Copper scrap is pulling $3 to $4 per pound depending on how clean it is. You could turn it into a net $$$ positive (or at least make enough on the scrap to cover your primer and powder cost).

Range scrap has become my primary source for lead too with WW being so scarce here. I haven't tried to cash in the copper jackets yet, been saving them up though. Joe

I haven't tried another scrap yard yet but the one I sell my brass to wouldn't touch the jackets, so if I find someone who will is who I will sell all my stuff to.

Opper has taken a hit in the last few weeks. Local yard is down to $2.42/lb. A few months ago they were giving $3.71/lb. Metals are all down rt now.

I am generally leaving the range with no less lead than I arrive with. Life is good.

I've managed to put traps on my local range, replacing the backers is part of my job for now. I've aquired 15# lino like metal,200# of hard ,400#WW,200# soft, every 6 months.

I shot a match on Saturday at a range I'm not a member. While shooters were still scoring their targets, I was mining the backstop. I came away with a large soda cups worth. The shot gun slugs seemed to be the easiest to see. I made sure I wasn't the last one back.

I'm the same as Jeff, if I'm the last person on the range, I leave with more than I shot...Ray
