I don't feel like waiting up to 3 months for Lee to make me a .35 Whelen FC die so I was wondering if anyone has successfully turned a 30-'06 Lee Factory Crimp die into a .35 Whelen FC die with a drill press; and, what size drills did you use?

IMO you are looking at a lot of work , reworking a 30/06 FC die
I would start with a 358 Win FC die
If I remember right , you can crimp longer cases by adding a bushing around the case head to make up the differance
Like setting a washer over the case ,on top of the shell holder
I an planning on trying a 358 Win FC die for my 35 Wellen ( Lee list's it )
It might work as is , with just a bushing / washer to make up the .489 differance in the 2 case lengths
Or I might have to releive a little in the shoulder area .
Will not know till I try
I just started buying stuff , besides I don't even have the barrel on the action yet
