Just give me a swag here, can I get by with 8 pound of lead to one / or two pounds of Wheel Wts if I drop them in water to cool ?

Firing 45acp and 9mm and hoping I can stretch my wheel weight supply

45 ACP most likely yes. 9mm I don't know,don't have one.

Are you talking pure lead or range lead as the thread title said? If range lead you could use it straight for 45 ACP.

Yes, I am using range lead but most of it comes out of jacketed bullets so
its got to be less hard lead.

My WW supplier dried up on me, usual story of the commercial contract for
removal of WW from his tire store. So its hit or miss getting any WW and
what I got, I would like to stretch using minimum WW to lead. I cast in a
ten pound Saeco bottom pour pot so I am thinking 1 or 2 # WW to 8# Lead
water quenched but..... I am worried I will cast a ton of bullet and then find
later on , they are too soft.

45 ACP doesn't require a hard bullet unless you are driving it hard. I have shot many range scrap bullets in my 45 ACP.
Try this- cast up a pot from range scrap, load 200, and shoot them. That many will give you a good read on how they group and do they lead. This is sort of my normal test for handgun alloy, lubes, or bullet styles.
In the end, anything you cast that doesn't work can be remelted and re-alloyed. Is goes on every day in the ppt of some caster in the US. We are the ultimate in recyclers!
