Casting fever

Opps...got the casting fever today:smile:....Did something like 50 lbs of WW into 9mm and 45 Boolits:groner:.

Now I don't have a oz. of lead that not cast into something.:-(

Now that is a good day of casting! My all time best was 13,000 Saeco #68 200 gr .45 ACP bullets in a weekend! That was almost four hundred pounds of bullets...

Now, my speed is one pot full (20-21#) of match quality bullets in one sitting. Of course, now that I am retired, I can cast several days in a row without a problem. My shop has A/C and electric heat so I am not limited much by weather. That helps, also. I tend to cast all year 'round, keeping several thousand bullets on hand. I don't EVER want to "go to the cupboard and find it bare"...

As many bullits as I have cast today I will not have to cast any more for a few months.

Yep, I have bullets cast up for all my guns beyond what I can hope to use for several months.

My solution? Buy another gun in a new caliber!

It should be in the mail in a few days.

I like to keep two to five thousand of each caliber I shoot on hand just in case I get in a loading frenzy

Casting fever

There's no cure for it, you just have to let it run it's course. Must be some sort of virus, it only subsides by heating up the pot, making some boolits.

I'm not alone with my sacks full of boolits. :drinks:

I think having the lead stored in "boolit shaped ingots" is a good idear myself.
One can always melt it down and make regular ingots out of it. :roll:

Seems like casting fever is more common during cold winter months!

My average "day" of casting is more like 3 hours or so. I usually end up with about 15 lbs, give or take. Yesterday, that was split up between some 358156's and the Miha 200 gr. 45 HP. I need more time to shoot the boolits I have cast up now. I smell a vacation day in my future. enjoy Mike

Lately casting fever here....Indian Summer and all. It's the sizin I dread. ...But I got a lot of cans of different boolits!!

Done about 75 lbs in the last week. 452389 429421 358-158 RF 457 and a 410 .

Cant stand the Lyman and Ideal sizers i have, they have made good boolits, but the mess, and speed tick me off.

The have served their purpose and got my feet wet, but....I want a Star and I want my Star NOW!!! LOL.
