Just couldn't help myself. Found another single cav on eBay I managed to snag for under $13 shipped.
It was cheap because it has surface rust (no pitting I can see) and the sprue plate screw is missing.
I've been thinking of getting another of that mold since I'm starting to like it in a solid as well as wanting to HP one.
Just e-mailed Erik earlier about doing the service, knocking the rust off and selling me a new sprue screw.

This is one of the ALL-TIME most popular .357 bullets. It makes a fabulous hollow point.

I really need to get it done. It's been over a year since I scored my first one.
I've been busy with other things like building a 30 cal ammo can full of .357s with the Lee 358-140-SWC. It's my leading favorite plain base right now. Running it at 1010 out of a 2.5" barrel and I can shoot them by the hundreds (IDPA) without any leading at all.
But I was shooting up the last of my initial experiments with the 358156 a couple weeks back and realized I really like that boolit too.

I have this and several similar designs in too many calibers, and never found rationale to hollowpoint... they thump anything they hit pretty well.

I have this as a hollowpoint and it's great out of my 4" 686.

I had Erik Hp a single cav. Lyman Ideal 358156 mold I got off of E-bay. Had him make me 2 pins one a standard HP and the other a cup point. I also like the 358156 very much especially for my Marlin 94-C.
I like the design so well that I am in a group buy for a RG4 from NOE...........Terry

Back in the day (I will not say how long ago) that was the very best in my .357. It is a classic and I wish I still had the mold and gun, mod 27.

44man, well I do still have that mould and gun. The combination of the two results in the tightest handgun groups I can shoot.
