My late winter project is to be able to load for all six chambers of this 19th century German hammer gun. Here are some pictures:

I picked this gun up about two years ago. It was one of those opportunities that you can't pass up without regretting later. It's an "underlever" Lefacheaux action. The action and two original barrels (SxS 20 gauge, and 10.5x47/20 gauge) carry no proof marks, so I believe them to be1880's vintage. The third barrel is a double rifle in 9.3x65 Collath and carries pre-WWI smokeless proofs. It was made by Tesco (Teschner-Collath) probably 1900 to 1910.

The gun is fully engraved, and all three barrels are tight to the breech face.

Over the weekend I formed cases for the 10.5x47 tube from 45-70 brass. Turned about .008 off the rims, ran them into a 41 swiss die, and fire formed.

The groove dia. is .412 at the breech and .408 at the muzzle. I plan on shooting black powder and 350 grain 20/1 .416's. I'm going to cut down a set of LEE .416 Taylor dies for seating and crimping. I have Magtech brass shells for the 3 20 gauge bores, and I'm going to shoot black powder loads exclusively in them. The 20 gauge next to the 10.5 is cylinder bore, so I'm planning a shot load and a .570 roundball load. I've never loaded shotshells of any type, much less BP, so any and all advice is more than welcome.

These are the proofs on the double rifle. I'm going to form brass for the 9.3 Collath from 7x72, which should arrive soon. Factory load data is pretty sketchy. All I know is that the proofs are for Smokless flake, and a steel jacketed bullet. All the references I've found are for around a 200 grain projectile. I'm planning on starting with cast boolits to try and figure out velocity based on how the barrel is regulated, and how the 3 leaf (100,200 and 300 meter)sight is set. I think I'll be able to neck size and seat with my 9.3x62 dies.
