Black Powder

I've spent a bit of time this weekend looking thru books and surfing the web for powders that should be good or decent in the 50-90. And have come up with 4 choices that I plan on trying .

1. Swiss 1 1/2 FG

2. Schuetzen 2FG

3. Goex 2FG

4. Goex Cartridge

.50-90 should be a good candidate for 1-1&1/2 Fg. FF seems a little much, but maybe not.

Swiss 1 1/2. I am running it in my .38/303 BPCR and it goes well.

Swiss is the Rolls Royce of black powder. It burns clean and is very flexible in my applications. You also pay about as much as smokeless for it. Good stuff.

you might try straight old Goex 1F , in that big old case it works well , good velocities and a clean burm at 100 to 110 gns........Dean

Swiss No5 1Fg would be better in that big 50 cal case. I use it to good effect in my .577 Sniders.
