What should I expect if I shoot a gas check designed boolit without the gas check? I know I'll have to keep the velocity down but what will happen to accuracy?

Hate to gie you this sort of an answer, which is really no answer, but it just depends. For plinking purposes you will probablly be okay.

Good luck,

Ron

Ron,

I'd rather have an honest "no answer" than a wrong one. :-D

I guess I'll have to be specific and I'll start a new thread for that.

Thank you,

Doug

Hans---I have tried the G/C boolits both with and without G/C---Probably not much of a test but groups where not bad the non G/Cs where a Little bigger but not bad---I say probably not much of a test because they where shot at 25 yards. and the load was A mild one --- A 185gr. Boolit with 18grs. of 2400 in the 7.62x54R---Mag

I have gone over this many times. It depends on the drive area of the boolit versus the rifling twist. When you leave off the check you are losing a drive band. If the boolit is then too short for the rifling you will lose accuracy. If the boolit is still long enough you will be OK. It is up to you to test this and none of us can tell you yes or no.

Hanz, I've been testing my .303 enfield with and without GC for the last 3 weeks. So far no accuracy at all with any type of load without the GC.
