I'd like to find out if there has been any successes out there using Lyman 257420 with the 25-'06. Is "varmint-like" accuracy possible with this combo and if so, to what velocity? "Varmint-like accuracy" to me with cast boolits would be 90+% reliable squirrels kills to 125 yards and a bit farther on bigger varmints like racoons and possum. I'd reach for a different round if the critter happened to be a coyote or other chicken thief; however, I'm seeking at least .22WMR performance (yes, at a fraction of the cost). I'm assuming the standard 10" twsit.
Also, and more importantly, are current copies of Lyman 257420 molds worth a hoot in terms of castability; i.e., making near perfect boolits without undue mental anguish? The last few Lyman molds I've purchased (I swore, I'd never buy another) in .30 cal have cast "narrow" boolits and Lyman doesn't give a hoot. They'll replace the mold you're complaining about, but send you another cut from the same worn out cherry.
Thanks for your input.
