Anyone have any experience with this particular mold? I am thinking about getting one for IDPA revolver shooting. I would like to take on the moon clip boys with my speedloaders. The heavier boolit should reduce felt recoil which in turn will help in making follow-up shots.
The boolit may work ok in my Rossi as well, although the 1-30 twist really doesn't favour a heavy boolit.

I am also looking at the 358315 mold designed for the 35 Remington @ 204 gr. I wonder if it would work using 38spl cases.

LOTS of time-in-grade with Lyman #358430, the 195 grain version. It has been VERY accurate for me in numerous 38 Special and 357 Magnum revolvers, ranging from 700 FPS to 1250 FPS. It loads from HKS speedloaders readily. On small game like jackrabbits, it does tumble occasionally at 38 Special velocities. At higher/Magnum speeds......it bores right through, and the blunt RN does no good for the critter's health & welfare. Heck, I've even Beagled the castings out to fit the Webley-Enfield and S&W M&P in 38 S&W.

I consider it a very useful design. A softpointed version with a 70 grain donor boolit would make a very fine hunting revolver out of a 357 Magnum for smaller deer.

I have both, also the 150 grain version of the 358430.....but I use them in rifle loads.

Thanks for the replies guys. Al I am thinking about loading the boolit down to IDPA power factor of 165 (vel*boolit weight/1000). I am thinking a heavier boolit will be easier to make power factor and should produce less recoil tha a 158 - 170 gr boolit reaching the same power factor.

Looks like a mold will be on order.

can anyone point me toward some good load data for this bullet in 38 Sp and/or 357 Mag?
Thanks
