I bought a pack of the Ballistic Products Inc HITS Paradise Pheasant loads and I'm having troubles. [smilie=b:

1st it's a buffered load, with no mention of how much buffer. A bunch of reading around and the general concensus was that 20gr of buffer.
Does that seem reasonable?

2nd it's a buffered load and there is no mention of an overshot card in the "recipe".
I have thin cardboard overshot wads and some clear plastic overshots. Will adding either have any dramatic effect? Would adding a .25" Fiber Wad have an effect?

3rd, and this one is the show stopper, when the load is assembled in the hull provided (with no wad seating pressure other than my finger), with the components provided it's over .5" of unused hull in the column. I can't get a decent crimp anyway I try. I had planned on roll crimping these and even then it's way too long.

My first thought was to stuff a 1/4" fiber over the top and crimp away. Anyone have any suggestions?

I am surprised that BP did not include instructions.

Give them a call and get the low down.

You know this is a 1 1/4 oz load?

That's the PIA. They did include instructions, but the recipe just doesn't fit well.

I thicker over shot card is what I ended up doing. I haven't had a chance to pattern them yet.
