stopped at a truckstop in florida and walked into the shop, asked if they had any ww's and walked out with about 100 lbs! most were stick ons got about 20lbs clipons and 2/3rd of a coffee can of weights steel or zinc. This is how I've gotten most of my lead. The only thing I need to do now is find a source for pure lead I'm running a little low

most of the lead stick-on weights are very close to pure. A lot of guys even use them for their muzzleloaders.

Nice score, by the way.

Good deal! I need to get back in the game once I'm out of the sandbox. I miss scrounging and casting.:-(

I had a little windfall myself. I was talking reloading with the Cub Master of my son's Pack a coupla weeks ago and we got off on 1911s, etc and I mentioned casting. He said he reloaded but didn't cast. We had a campout Fri-Sun of the 16th and he said he had something for me but left it at home.

His son happens to be in my son's den and last Monday night he brought a huge wooden crate with over 100 "lee ingots." I haven't weighed the ingots yet to see what they weigh individually but the whole shebang was definitely over 100#'s. A few sticks of lino in there too.

He said his grandfather casted but he didn't, just reloaded. Gave it to me free. He said he also had two 40# bricks of pure lead and I could have those too.

I went from couldn't find lead to buy to about 160# free so far.

Nice score, fellow Tennessean. I scrounged a local scrapyard this weekend and came away with about 40 lbs. of sheet and 3 lead roof flanges. I thought you especially might find one of the roof flanges interesting. I couldn't bear to melt this piece so I trimmed around it, melted the rest, and kept the address piece for shop decoration. http://castboolits.gunloads.com/imagehosting/thum_203174e812753c5e49.jpg (http://castboolits.gunloads.com/vbimghost.php?do=displayimg&imgid=2234)
Notice the "Tenn." instead of "TN". I guess that dates this piece a bit.

Sure does. I'm only 39 but still find myself wanting to use Tenn instead of TN. My son is a 9 yr old geography genius and gets after me all the time.

He and I went somewhere a few weeks ago and I left my cell at home. I made the statement, "Where's a phone booth when you need one?" He said,"What's a phone booth?"

I felt ancient.
