LL,

Hope you have a wonderful day fishing. I always thought a bad day of fishing is better then a good day at work. Best of luck to you sir.

I would love to take you fishing. I bet you have some awesome stories to pass on.

The rainbow was caught on the 2nd cast of the day, and two more quickly followed. Then I had to leave to go help the BLM people clean the range.

When I got back tothe fishing hole some people were in my usual spot. They ended up taking home 20 trout. I only caught one more worth keeping. Once they left I went over to their spot and started throwing a worm in and immediately caught two, but they weren't up to my standard as keepers. All the fish I caught and kept were caught on Panther Martin lures.

If any of you are in the Wellington, NV area ( about an hour from Carson City) drop me a line and I would be more than happy to take you fishing in the good spots.

I also want to thank everybody who wished me luck.

Now for the funny story of the day. I went fishing in shorts and flip-flops so I could walk in the water along the bank. Well I feel something on my foot and look down. SNAKE!! So I did what any respectable man would do in that situation. I screamed, dropped my pole, and ran up on the rocks. I found out later that it was a gopher snake, and was not poisonus. Well at least that's what the guys fishing next to me said when they were able to control themselves again. You would think they would want to help somebody who just let out a high pitched scream, but no. Instead they were doubled over laughing. At least one of them grabbed my pole as it was going downstream.

Love Life did you find out which one of them put the snake in the water? Last summer I was casting spoons in the Muskegon river near here and caught something that just did not feel like a fish it was alive but fought in a strange manner. It was a two foot water snake in a foul mood I snagged it dead center and it was all nasty and striking at me. Fortunately I was able to set it in the rocks nearby while it unhooked its self and it went back to the river so I did not have to kill it.

That is not a fish. That is a whale and classified as a mammal.

Headed out Bass fishing this weekend. It was pretty darn good last weekend and this one should be better. The Bass are starting to stock up for the winter and you can get some pretty big ones in the fall.

WERE is that lake?

I'm about ready to find shop space to rent, that's a close drive to fishing grounds. I'm going nuts. I could curl up with a sleeping bag next to one of my lathes.

I would like the coast, but I'd be afraid of my dies and machines rusting...

I had a curious occurence at Lake Isabella on Tuesday. I dragged the boat out, and a friend and I trolled for trout--I started with a Thomas Bouyant, he used some electric-red/orange/black Rapala. Not ten minutes later, he hooks up--and boats a 21" CHANNEL CATFISH. Trolling a Rapala. I've read and heard of such things, but this was a first for me in-person.

We prospected all day--for crappie, black bass, more trout. Just a couple bumps, probably trout entertianing themselves at our expense. Beats working all hollow, though.

That lake is about 1/2 mile east of me, Pat.

I got another good batch of pike yesterday. Most of them I caught in the heavy weed beds, doing vertical jigging.

Al, I have caught catfish on spinners and such too. Always was a surprise.

I have got to come see that place. Can you get straight through from Spokane, or do you have to go south around a few mountain ranges? I don't have any of my maps handy.

Straight through Spokane, until you get to St. Regis. Head north, until you can smell the reservation, and see the lake.
