Dies came in today so just finished first batch of 230gr RN FMJ. 4.5gr Win 231 with CCI lg pistol primers. Also did five test rounds with some 230gr lead RN from Alpha Bravo. Hope to get to range Saturday to test.

.45acp is the first round I reloaded for. It is a very forgiving round to reload. If the 230gr boolits work well for you (and they should), it would definitely be worth getting a mold for it.

Owning handguns with a calibre over 38 requires a special license in Australia and I have one. I am the only person that I know in teh district that has such a license and consequently everyone comes to me with big bore stuff. I have several thousand cases and thousands of commercial bullets/boolits and lots of moulds, etc. I only have one gun in this calibre and it is a 45 Ruger Blackhawk convertible. One of the locals has just been busted growing dope and of course his guns were confiscated. He didn't have a high cal license nor a 45ACP, but in the stash there are about a thousand PMC 45ACP 230Gn FMJ factory loads. I reckon he must have had a sub gun tucked away somewhere.

I have been sounded out for the ammo, but I'd want to get it cheap, how much brass can you use in one revolver?

I used to have a Colt Commander before the Government worked out it was way too much fun and took it away. They gave me top money for it, but I would have preffered to keep it.

I hope all you fellow gun lovers "down under" can get that wild boar scat that the Australian government force fed you reversed. My Dad's cousin was stationed in New Guinea in WWII and fought along with Australians who made good use of the .45 ACP in combat with Thompson SMGs and 1911-A1s that were either issued or "traded" with the Americans. It is a shame to limit the traditional "big bore" slow manstopper calibers that helped tame both our countries and inflict damage on our enemies. .45 ACP is one of my favorite cartridges and it is a great cartridge in revolvers, either single or double action. In a Ruger Blackhawk you could even load some very stout loads using heavier bullets meant for the .45 Colt and save lots of powder doing the same job standard loaded .45 Colt (SAAMMI Spec.) can do and not worry about "position ignition" in the larger .45 Colt case with smokeless powder.

FFOD.
I have a High cal permit and a Para GI Expert in 45ACP.
I'd be interested in some of that PMC ammo.
I'm in northern NSW.

Thanks.

Sounds like a solid load. I think you'll be happy, on the plates yo'll be grinning like a fool!

Sorry, run the plates once and you'll be hooked on that load.

Enjoy!:Fire:

Do you list it as a silouette gun? My mate converted his 45 to 9mm, he should have a slide and barrel cheap :)

Yep. It is on paper for Sillywets. There are a few at my club with 40 and 45 calibres. we travel to Casino every month to shoot.

I'd be interested in the slide and barrel.

I've got two 1911s, a 9mm Norinco and a Colt 38Super. A 45ACP slide and Barrel would go nicely. My high cals are all revolvers, 3x 44/40 Piettas, 2x 44Mag Ruger Blackhawks, a pair of 45Colt New Model Vaqueros and the 45 convertible I mentioned earlier.

I use them to shoot cowboy action (Wild Bunch shooot?).

My 10 1/2" NMSBH which has been trimmed to 7.5" would do nicely for silouette (with the 45ACP as a back up gun, lol).

I shoot IPSC.
Glock 35 with 357Sig barrel. I still have to 40 barrel and use it for Sillywets.
Kimber 38 Super for Steel challenge.
And now the Para 45 for sillywets.

Four Fingers-I failed to understand what you meant here? If where you are requires a license for a calliber over 38 and you have that license, why did they take the Colt away? That rather sucks.

ColColt.
Here in OZ they took anything with a barrel shorter than 120mm or of a calibre larger than 38. But they allowed 40 and 45 for Metallic sillywets and western action.

So, IPSc can only have 9mm, 38super and 357sig. no 40S&W or 45ACP.
Glock 17's had to have a new barrel that was longer than 120mm so that is why we can get Glock17A that has a 122mm barrel and still be legal for australian laws.
I know. it is stupid.
I can have a 1911 45ACP to shoot sillywets, but I can't use it for IPSC or any other match. total stupidity.

After a massacre our Prime Minister at the time stated that he hated guns and would do all he could to ban them. After the backlash he was forced to backdown a bit and the Olympic Pistol mob must have got into his ear because the legislation that came out was virtually a sentence or two oout of the lympic pistol mob's rule book, "no calibre higher than 38.' To save face he banned all hign cals and smaller pistols.

Over 38 cal was banned, minimum barrel length for autos was 120mm (about 4 3/4") and 100mm for revolvers (about 4"). The Commander failed on both counts.

Strangely enough, calibres up to 45 were allowed in Silouette and single action competition. A few of my friends now have 45ACP autos stating that hey use them in Silouette competition, I am currently on the lookout for a slide and barrel to use on my 1911s.

IN Canada apparently they did the same thing, but banned the smaller calibres, :) ????

We were reimbursed for our guns (very generously in fact), but I still would love to have a Commander, my fav gun, the full sized 1911s are good, but I love the Commander.

I have lots of big cal stuff, 44/40s, 44Mags and 45Colts, including a 45 Ruger Convertible.

When is your next election and who on earth looks out for gunrights in your country?

Holy cow! Is it possible to have an origanization like the NRA or GOA down there?

We had such a public outcry after the massacre, the politicians were too scared not to act. They got smart and had what they called a 'non partisan vote' where they could vote how they wished, which boiled down to if they all voted that way, we could'nt kick them out because they all did it. Kinda sneaky smart, I will have to give them that. In our state only two politicians stood up and voted against it, the Senator from our Shooters Party and an independant who is supportive.

We are pretty political in our state and the Shooters Party now have two Senators elected. They have managed to inject a bit of sense into the argument and get our state some concessions. But any real effort to roll back the laws sees a hysterical outburst about whoever it is being 'soft on gun laws .' Consequently not much gets changed. In our state it is not so bad now and with a bit of paperwork, a bit of money being paid in fees, etc we can work around most of it. My guns number in three figures and I can shoot and hunt pretty much any time I choose.

We have the SSAA (pretty much our equivalent to the American NRA), who have done a lot, but in reality, after the Prime Ministers outburst and the following face saving for him and being sold out by the Olympic shooting crowd, it was pretty much over right from the start.
