I recently found this 12 ga. crimper marked SEARS ROEBUCK CO. its in excellent condition and was wondering its age, I have a 1902 SEARS catalog (repro) there are several listed but none quite like this one. I remember reading an article somewhere that said 99% of the crimpers are marked BGI the other 1 % that are marked with a different name were probably made by BGI?

You are outside my collecting field. Old shotgun tools are very interesting. But there are a lot of different models, brands and styles out there. I have enough headaches to get into them.

The script leads me to think it's pre 1900. The earlier catalogs show that type of script on their products. Beyond that I got's nuthin'.

Thank you, I have seen quite a few of these over the years, but I can't remember ever seeing one with Sears Roebuck on it, I know there are probably thousands out there I've just never see one.

Kinda a slang term for good. You never heard anything called cool?

I have one one or two of those out in my shed. I did not realize that they made primarily by BGI. I will try to dig them up and see who's mark is on them.

I will be interested to see what you find.

Well I could only one out in the shed, however, I could not find any markings on it what so ever.

Sorry I could not help out.

I still use one for crimping the roll crimps on my B/P shootshells and it still works good after 90 years.

Most likely made by IDEAL the holder is same and the head is brass and should have small raised places inside.
About all the old ones were for 12 ga so you couldnt interchange to a different ga.
Lyman Came out with one about 1950 that you could interchange to different ga but they are rare and the shell holder for small ga is like hens teeth

The crimper I have is blank as well. Surprising that some tools don't have any markings at all.
