I had cast up a bunch of these a while ago and water quenched some and air cooled others.

This was all water quenched boolits.

I sized them to .309 and used Gator checks and some felix/speed green combo that was in the sizer. You can see in the pic, felix lube on the left side and speed green on the right. :)

I used some LC 66 milsurp cases that were preped for the testing.

I loaded up a series of charges using W 760 starting at 31gr and going up 2gr until 43gr.

It was a nice day for shooting, cool, slightly overcast and no wind. :)

I set everything up for 50 yds because, that's far enough to know when you have a stinker of a load and a good one worth testing.

The first two batches (5 shot groups) were fair enough, but lots of smoke was present, burning lube and stuf I suppose.

These looked promising so I continued hoping for better or at worst these will do for good plinking loads.

I let the barrel cool a few minutes between strings and shot my other guns. It turned out to be a great day for those guns and loads too! (my TC 41 mag)

Here are the next few targets and my hopes started to go south, as they just kept getting worse as the powder charges went up.

With this last group I had pretty much come to the conclusion that my accuracy window was well past and just really didn't care to shoot the last set of 5.

But my scientific mind turned on and forced me to give it the same effort as the first batch. I was really glad I did!

Here is the best group by far! AND the smoke was far less than the other loads. I suspect that it finally came up to pressure and sealed well.

Now to load more and stretch it to 100yds!

I supplied the sample for the NOE mold and it is a good one in my Ruger .308 Varmint.

Awesome shooting Ben. I hope I can get groups like that with my .308 when my mold gets here.(NOE 311365)

Ben:

Again, very nice group! Do you know velocity?

You are my gold standard for cast boolit accuracy and I am working towards being able to post some groups like yours. It may take me a lifetime to get there but that is my goal!

I don't have the 311365 but I note that you seem to do this with whatever boolits you take to shooting on a given day.

I see you are using IMR4895 here. IIRC you often use Unique. Any particular reason for the change here? Better results with 4895 or that was just what you happened to have on hand?

Nice shooting regardless. I always like to see your targets.

Ben you did not mention any fillers. Any thoughts about using fillers with h335, AA2520.
