Pigs have rototill ed my whole place lately so I have been carrying the AR I have for the grandkids any time I am outside. It is a carbine with a short stock and the most compact rifle I have. Just hoping to see them for a few shots. can any recommend one of the tactical type sling or carry strap setups. I would like to be able to let it hang about waist level in a ready position when I need to feed or water animals and other chores. I did not want to have to read through pages of advertisements or pages of post on forums trying to see what people like. Need some recommendations so I can get one ordered.
Thanks

Well, I'm sometimes a tight wad - I have several Ar's with different slings - some I have made from seat belt webbing - you can get parts to make up the rest at the sewing store or off internet.
What exactly do you mean by "I would like to be able to let it hang about waist level in a ready position when I need to feed or water animals and other chores."

On some I used the single point but the problem is while at waist height that's going to hang muzzle down and with a 30 round mag will tend to tangle with you while doing chores.

The three point / HK style tends leave the muzzle point across your lap (I usually adjust so can shoot right or left so that leaves it a little lower than people who set for right only)

- I have one set up a simple military silent two point sling which I use with african weak side shoulder muzzle down carry and flip up with off hand wrapped once in the sling.

- Overall the HK three point give you the most options, you can attach with plastic snap to isreali shoe lace to front sight and butt stock.

I know you want a pat answer but in my experience there isn't just one perfect sling.

I always make a quick disconnect in each sling in case something happens you want to be able to release/drop the weapon quickly.

Wow, that just doesn't sound very comfortable at all. No chance of getting them with a handgun?

What's wrong with the GI standard nylon "silent sling"? Five bucks.
Simple is good.

If you will PM me your addy, I will send you a free Tactical Sling, "Spec Ops Sling 101 CQB, 1 EA" three point sling that we used in Iraq. I also have a spare US M-249 sling that works well for a standard quiet sling but with a REALLY wide shoulder pad. They are both black simple nylon, new in packaging and complete with all mounting hardware and instructions. I have several and wouldnt mind sharing. Call it a deposite in the Karma Bank.
