This deed is proof of the old saying:
http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm153/Chickenthief/Blandet/never-hold-farts.jpg

I bought a Nepalese Snider with a chamber the size of an oildrum. I wanted to tear the action of and line the chamber to something that actually looks like a .577" Snider/Boxer cartridge.

Clamped the barrel in the vise and clamped a piece of square tube to the action (nice and flat). Here's the result:

So major restoration is now called for http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm153/Chickenthief/Blandet/Smilere/IAMsmiling.gif

Unless somebody has an action they want to part with!

It look slike that action was a bit flexible. as a test for the future when you find another action, you might try to make an action wrench that fits the front receiver ring. Not all is lost you still get to learn things with this action.

Just twist it back the other way.

I agree, you can probably put it back. Not brittle! Wall hanger or maybe you can
make up some loads in some sort of shotshell.

Ah likes it!

Like sum pistolsmiths say, if it will bend out of square, it will bend back into square. I don't espouse this necessarily, but after it is too late there is little to lose. I've even had smiths at Brownell's tell me this (and again, they weren't saying to not use a proper wrench, they were only saying that after it gets bent, what else is there?).

It's hosed now... you can't hose it any worse by twisting it back the other way. Even if it cracks, you can still use it to keep all the rest of the parts together.

If you've twisted the center out of line, you'll need a press, some wood blocks, and some time. When the mating parts move okay, you're close enough.

Once you straighten it, use a bright light and a magnifying glass to inspect it. If it looks okay, remove the barrel with a proper receiver wrench, let the receiver sit for a day or so in a pan of automatic transmission fluid - if you warm it on a hot plate, so much the better. Then take it out, wipe it down, hose it off with carb cleaner, and let it dry. Then warm it up to 250F or so in the oven, take it out, and give it the visual again - the oil will get into cracks you can't even see, and the heat will drive it out onto the surface. Most ATF has a red dye which makes it easier to see.

Figure up a proof load, re-inspect, and then refinish as desired.

I have not given up on it.

I intend to cut the bent middle section out and replace it with a newly made one. Neither the front or the rear of the action is bent/twisted so it is "just work".

And admitted to it in as much as the MKIII was marked STEEL on the barrel, so yes.

I'd try bending it back before cutting it apart to add a new middle section. Either way I'd do a bunch of searching and talking to people before firing it.

I was really getting into low cost rifles, until I got one that made me realize maybe this isn't something to see how cheap I should do something. Nothing happened to me, it had a pierced primer and some smoke coming up around all of the bolt.
