Hi Southern son

Here is some picatures of my 425 Westley Richards, now the only thing it has in common with the firm Westley Richards is the name of the cartridge as is started it's life as a Husqvrna 640 ( a civil M/98). I must say that i love this cartridge, there was some moments when i was doubtful if i had made a wise desition but when the kinks was all sorted out and my firs moose shoot there was no going back:bigsmyl2:

I like the styling on that Husqvarna stock - but I'll bet that .425WR's a thumper ! [smilie=w:

Math; nice looking rifle. Where do you get .435" bullets and how heavy are they?

Thanks for the positive respons

I swage my own bullets and have settled in for a weight of 375 grains and a speed of 715 M/S which have worked wonder on the moose

As for comercial manufacturers i have only found two, Woodleigh and hawk.

I would imagine a 375 gr bullet at 2300 + fps would work on almost anything. 425WR is not a very common caliber around here, but have seen one locally built on a 1903 springfield, beautifully stocked in expensive walnut, made me envious.

I have always loved the idea of a 425 Westley Richards on a Mauser action. If I built one I would have to use open sights and use charger clips, that is what they were designed for with the rebated base for game wardens to be able to reload quickly when culling a bunch of animals. They use FN FALs now and just keep drilling the animal until it drops.
