Well the weather here is freaking cold so I guess that means it is time to fire up the pot again! I was thinking that since this is a new year, I am going to get that hunting license and go hunting. Witch brings me to my question: what is ya'lls favorite boolit style in 38/357 for hunting? Game will run the gammett from deer to hogs to rabbit and squirrel. So whadda think? SWC/WC/RFP/ all of the above/ none of the above?

Full wadcutter for pest.
Round nose for wabbit and limb rat.
158gr or more hard cast SWC for hog and deer.

Nothin' wrong with Gaboy's suggestion. I tend to just make it Wadcutters for light loads and SWC for everything else.

Good advice so far, but to simplify, or economize, a good 158 or better SWC over various charges, will do anything that needs done.

But that isn't near as much fun............

38 Special

1) HBWC at 650 to 700 fps for plinking, targets, bullfrogs, cottontails and snaker
2) Solid base WC at 850 for plinking, targets, jackrabits, possums and other small game.
3) RN, good old Lyman 358311 is the most accurate bullet every made to fly down the barrel of a 38, but worthless on game. Great for plinking and targets shooting where a clean hole is not needed.

357 Magnum

1) Lyman 358156 GCSWC at 1,200 to 1,400 fps for things too big for the above.
