I have a chance to git some lead from a friend, she used to make stained glass, is this pure lead or what. Its in thin strips about six feet long.

Stained glass came is close enough to pure to be used as such for our purposes.

The one time that I saw stain glass work going on they used solder. Just tossing that out as a possibility.

Yeah, but the solder would be round wire on rolls, not thin strips 6 feet long...

You would need to cut out the soldered joints and melt seperatly in order to maintain the softness.

The strips will be soft lead, come in H-channel and U-channel--I think they call it "came". If she has solder, it is most likely 50/50.

I would ignore the joints- the amount of solder isn't very big. I could easily picture a large window that contains over 10 pounds of lead came yet uses less than 1/4 pound of solder. While I am no expert I have done enough stained glass work to have a decent idea what is going on.

This is all new stuff in boxes, she said she used to put it in a vise and stretch it. So sounds pretty soft.

That's definitely the came then. Call it pure.
