Did you get any color in your pan?

Just a little. It was very fine and we had to get it out with tweezers. We got a nice piece of quarts with gold embedded in it. We will have to try some more buckets and make some sluice mods. Our hastily welded one didn't work as good as we thought it should.

Where did you pan?

I panned over in the spot by the rocks. The water was really calm there. I'll tell you. We sluiced and panned from about 0830 until about 6:00 pm. It was hard work, but it was the most fun I have had in a long time and Sunday got here way to fast.

Awesome, hard to beat quality outdoor time AND some color in your pan too!

Just a word of warning in case you might not know, sometimes those chunks of quartz with gold in them are worth more if left whole. Break it up for the gold and you may diminish the value ;)

Thanks for sharing your trip with us!

Not looking for you to give up your "stake" but when I asked where you were panning I was referring to your state. [smilie=s:

That is not how I took it at all. I thought you were asking what part of the creek I was panning in.

We were in Nevada at desert creek. It is a very nice place to camp, fish, and do a little prospecting. The camp sites are primitive, but it is a very peaceful area and the camp sites aren't right on top of each other.

You don't have to worry about that. For a couple of packs of smokes and a 6 pack, I'll stay right here in Florida.

You ever take a metal detector to the beaches?

Only one time. The detector was constantly going off for all kinds of junk. I guess you have to pay a small fortune to get the high end ones. The ones that supposedly tell you what you are detecting before you dig it up.
