How do all of you like the new 308 Marlin Express?

I got a pair of them over 3 years ago when they first hit the market .
Killed a pair of whitetails one day with the stainless one and factory ammo . Both dropped in their tracks . I never did kill another deer with either of them and sold or traded them both off about 2 years ago !

I never tried a cast bullet in either rifle so i can give no insight in that department !

I liked them well enough and the same can be said for the 338 marlin Express . I just kinda lost intrest and went to the 444 cast bullet only thing .

I have one of the 308SDT trapper models with 16" barrel and have been less than impressed. It shoots factory ammo so-so for a deer gun but cast bullets are another story and resemble shotgun patterns. I'm still waiting for Ranch Dog to come out with his 308ME specific bullet to see if that improves things. I'd sell the gun but it was a limited edition and is part of a set so I'm planning to keep it for now.

I remmember when that came out and had kinda wanted one !

Based on what you said I'm kinda glad I didn't order one :-?

The 308MX I had was shooting 3 shot groups at 100 yards inside 3/4" right out the box . The 308MXLR started out shooting about 1 1/4" at 100 for 3 shots . But after I had put maybe 50 rounds thru the barrel that one also would shoot 3 at a bit under an inch at 100 yards .
