I started casting for 22-250 with NOE 225107 37g and 22-055 55g. I'm still waiting for size dies to get here. wd ww+tin. bought a new marlin X7VH 22-250 26" heavy barrel 1 in 14 twist to shoot boolits in.

Can anyone share there good or bad experiences with 22-250 and lead. It would help sooth my curios soul, and ease my learning curve. :lovebooli

them little bitty boolits are fun huh. I have a few lyman 44gr RN and lyman 55gr FN as well as a few lee bators that im going to try out of my marlin 219 zipper. haven't gotten around to loading any yet. I know there are a few on here that shoot cast out of 220 swift so 22-250 should be about the same.

I'll be casting a bunch to launch from my 22 hornet... wouldn't use cast in my 22-250. Sorry, but a 50gr Berger at 3800 fps is too much fun on woodchucks!

I shoot the Lyman 225462 in a 22-250. In my gun the best powder is 3031 , followed by 4198. Best accuracy comes around 2100fps. Alloy is WW plus a little tin and Felix lube. I've shot a lot of groundhogs in the past few years with that bullet, with a lathe bored hollow point. I have gone to nearly 2400fps with no leading, but no accuracy either. I also shoot a 22 Bator, with the gas check shank removed, at 22RF velocities using 2400 powder with excellent accuracy. Getting a load to shoot accurately over 2000fps took a lot of test shooting with several powders, so don't give up if accuracy doesn't come quickly. Also, be sure to get ALL copper fouling out of your barrel before shooting cast. Also, be very critical and cull even slight defects when inspecting bullets. I also weigh bullets into .2 grain batches.

I am using the Lyman 225415, 55gr if memory serves me right. Found great accuracy from my Savage Edge in 223Rem. Of course GC'd and pan lubing. I found 14gr of 4227imr and 10.7gr of imr4198 gave decent results so far. under 1" at 100meter. And my boolits were within .3gr of each. I havnt gotten my cast loads as good out of this rifle as I can get with a Jacket Hornady v-max, but under 1" isnt too shabby in my opinion. And not a sign of leading using a water quench alloy of 1part lead to 2 part WW at about 14 BHN as per my Lee tester. I havnt had a chance to chrono yet.

I know its no 22-250, but this is my only experience in 22 cal casts.
