I have a Marlin 1894CL in 32-20. What is the 'ideal' sizing diameter for this cartridge in the Marlin? :castmine:

I have 4 Marlin 32-20's at the moment . One was made around 1906 , another in the late 1980's and the other two since 2000 . And I size my home cast WW bullets the same for them all . They are run thru a .312" die .

Match it to your throat diameter.

Ditto to Jeff's response. My Marlin 94 CCL has a fat .312" throat, so it gets .313" boolits. I've shot boolits sized @ .312", and they did about as well as the .313" slugs. The Lyman H&I dies for the respective diameters are spot-on for diameter with 92/6/2 alloy. I just finished a lot of 32-20 ammo for the rifle, and part of the prep was to check these sizer die results.

Great shootout, though! Still never understood why you went into politics after that.......as said, slug the rifle with one of those bullets....my B53 is .312", and I shoot .313"......1200fps ballpark loads with 115gr might be 3.5gr/HP38, 3.5gr/Unique, 3.2gr/Bullseye, 7.3gr/2400.....1400fps ballpark loads with 115gr might be 5gr/Unique, 12gr/RL7....1500-1600fps might be 13gr/RL7, 9.8gr/2400, 9.3gr/AAC-9.....and faster at same pressure as the midrange 11gr/H110 at 1800fps.....too many to list!

Sizing to .311" has always worked well for the little Browning . Well enough that I didn't even try other sizes ....... oops[smilie=1:
