Meh. Agreed, it's not something I feel the urge to go out and grab up at that price point. I'll stick with the Bearcat. Still, it's nice to see Ruger produce an offering in the DA plinker/kit gun category, even if it is kind of a niche market. Can't complain about having more choices.

I get that a .22 is fun, but you have to pay for it, then pay for ammo that can be cheaper but if using better ammo also can be more expensive than loading your own cast .38s

So get one and shoot it just because... because you want another gun, really enjoy shooting all types, have $$$ to spare, but don't buy an expensive 22 to save money!

Real-world pricing tends to be in the $500-$525 range. If some other front sight option was available, I might snag one of these.

I will get the next one into my dealer's shop. The fellow picking up his today let me handle it a bit. I liked it enough to place an order for one. The price will be $539 + tax. I guess I have a .22 fetish or something.

I think this is why I'm so luke-warm to the idea. I'm just not a big fan of the .22LR any more. Blasphemy, I know. I understand what people like about the caliber, I'm just kind of over it.

Well I might get one, I'll bet I could find one for less than 500, as far as the front sight, have a few in the dungeon that would snap right it.
Why, oh why cannot they chamber this to a .38 in this barrel length, I would buy that in a minute.
I'd rather shoot .38 wadcutters all day as opposed to a .22, but I like the 4" barrel.

I thought about getting a Ruger revolver in .22 lr. But went with the Mark II in a 5 1/2 inch Bull barrel. It fits the same shoulder holster I use for my Colt 1911 Gold Cup.

At least Ruger is listening and making some new guns these days. That 4" .38 is a distinct possibility, well they would do it in .357 because everyone knows that would sell better. Maybe chamber it in .32 H&R magnum, too.

I've got a 6 shot .22 version in the 2.25" barrel length. It is a little tank and my most fired handgun with just over 20K rounds through it. This new one weighs less than my 2" even though the barrel is just over 4". I may have to buy one the new ones.

It was smart of Ruger to make it an eight shot. DA .22 revolvers never have sold all that well. This is hard for me to fathom as the idea of an understudy seems wise. But most guys have gone to automatics and even before they did a .22 auto could be bought cheaper than a good .22 revolver. Most folks think they are getting more for their money with a 10 shot autoloader than a 6 shot revolver, especially when the revolver costs more.
