I've been reading some good things about Lilgun powder in carbines. Any body got a recommended load to use with Lee TL 158 grn SWC's that would give about 1500 fps in my 1894. I'm using straight wheel weights and lube with Lee Alox.

Thanks
Dave

I shoot the 358156 hp gc around 151gr with alox lube and WW, out of my 1894c with good results.

I use 15.5 gr lil gun and win primers, these chrony around the 1550 + fps.

Usual disclaimer apply's...... work up for your rifle and double check this load.

As dmdracer says you need to work up your loads to remain on the safe side as always.
Having said that i am using 18 grains of Lil Gun and WSPM primers behind a 160gr LBT FN GC bullet and getting 1800FPS and very very good accuracy. The SWC design will most likely do great at 1500fps but the LBT FN bullets get better with speed.

Thanks for the responses. My bullets aren't gas checked, so I was concerned about leading. At 1500 fps, I hope I don't get any. I'm just not prepared to invest in another mold and gas checks & sizer at this time.
I'll be responsible in working up loads.
Thanks

Have a 1894C and have shot cast bullets @ 1,500 FPS---you will probably get some leading from it. I didn't think mind leaded up until I used an Outers Foul Out II.

I have been using a RCBS 125 grain RN-GC bullet with great results. I make my own Gas Checks and find I can use just about any powder---Red Dot, HP-38, Unique to get 1,600 FPS. As this bullet has a good ballistic co-efficent, it shoots flatter than a 158 SWC..
