Hi:

I have a web cartridge belt with the eagle snap buttons and the following markings in the center are crossed cannons with the number 65 on the top and then A and underneath the letter A is the number 161. On the right side are the letters CCA, 46 then crossed connons and below the crossed cannons the number 14.

Does any one know what the markings mean and if not does any one know on a good forum to go too. It is in good condition and any ideal on value?

Thanks,

Terry

US Artillery guidons have been marked with Regiment, Battalion, and Battery for quite a while, even though the actual Regiments for the Artillery pretty well disappeared during after WW II (brought back in 1981). This marking is laid out like this (hope this comes out).

Regt on top of the crossed cannons 30

Battalion then crossed cannons 5 X

And then the Battery designation A

So this guidon would be for A Btry, 5th Bn 30th Field Artillery. Because the crossed cannons are pretty universal, we can say for sure it is an Artillery unit marking, but what country and what kind of artillery (e.g. Field, Coastal, Air Defense), etc. we don't have any idea. I'm wondering about the CCA marking, as the US has CS (Combat Support) and CCS (Combat Service Support) as types, but Artillery is a Combat Arm, and I can't figure out the extra C if that is what it is about. As Dutchman said, a picture would be a real help, and, as Ilcop22 said, knowing the country and type of cartridge belt would be of tremendous help too.

What size cartridges? 30-06 ,30-40 ,45-70 ?
that could also be a big help.
