Team.

Our range was host today to a bunch of WW II re enactors. They are Axis supporters and left behind about 200 berdan primed 8X57 cases. That just added a heap to my scrap brass bucket. Just about time to cash up.[smilie=w:

............About the only thing that adds any excitement about going to the range we have to use now (since ours has been closed) is the brass that's available to pickup. Last itme I was there they must have had a "Shoot 30-30 and shoot for free" day, as it seemed the ground was carpeted in it :-)

I figure I pay my range fee with pick-up brass. I get about 100 .45 ACP cases and 100 .223 cases each trip. Assuming each cases is worth 4 cents each...I'm ahead on my $7 range cost!

I can't believe anyone leaves 45 brass laying. 223 I can see since there is a ton of it everywhere and LEO use it.

My local range your lucky to find a 22lr case. Bunch of re loading brass whores around here.

I don't have a 8X57 any more and would bother with Berdan primers. Times are not that tough yet.

There are all types of shooters out there. Many of them just leave their brass where it falls since they don't reload. At the range I go to (Clark County Shooting Park) I actually had one guy tell me there's no sense in reloading since ammo could be purchased for just a little more and the process takes too much time.

I leave a empty coffee can at my club range marked Brass for reloading. With sighting in season approaching I can look forward to 30-30 and 30-06 brass. Some members will leave brass in the can others will throw it in the trash. I look for empty boxes in trash, last week a 6MM box resulted in 20 once fired 6MM empties.

Personally I pick up every speck of brass I can get away with. I figure that if I don't reload that particular caliber that I can trade it to some other loader for something I can use.

With 4 to 6 shooters a month on our outings. 1 reloader, I do get a good amount of brass. we pick up any brass at our shooting point. II the nearby shooters sees or ask us.why. We inform them of our reloading. The rifle brass I keep. The pistol brass is given to other club menbers/freinds. They in turn pick up rifle brass for me. Talk about recycling.

Or even if it's junk it's worth $2/lb scrap. It's like money laying on the ground.

Yes I pick up every penny I find too.

At my range, the property owner (we rent from him) lives next to the range and goes on early morning walks, before the range is open. He picks up every piece of non-22lr brass he can, even from the collection buckets. One morning, while my back was turned, he grabbed a handful of brass I had just picked up. I have never seen him shooting so I can only guess what he does with the brass.

My club is usually pretty bare of brass. That said, last trip out had a box of once fired 7mm mag and .243 in the trash. The Public range that I used to go to has 3-4 locals that stop in throughout the day picking brass to resell, so that place is pretty bare too.

The public range by my house usually has only rimfire brass and a bazillion steel and aluminum Blazer cases, that's about it. If you are lucky you might find a handful of mixed brass junk. Years ago it was carpeted with brass but the scrappers descend every night when they close.

Hi I'm colt 357 and I am a reloader.
I get to the range a hour and a half before it opens to shot so I can pick up every piece of brass I can get my greedy little hands on. What I dont have a gun for I trade for brass that I can use at gun shows. Then once a month I dig the berm for lead to make new boolits.
I think my sickness has spread to my son he follows behind me picking up any that I missed. Now he is starting to help get lead now to.
Then we can't wait to get home and sort and see who got the most and best brass.

I've had the brass affliction for years. It trades for powder and primers. That along with the range lead has me shooting for nothing.
Even the 22LR brass is now being reused to swage 223 etc. It's all brass, and the price of it has really gone up.
When your at the range, just make out like your picking up nickles.

Good day at range...125 45 ACP cases, 90 .223 cases and 61 .30-06 cases. I stopped collecting .223 because I ran out of space to put them.

When I take the grandkids to the range they are always asking everyone for left over brass. Most people are all to happy to pass it on to them.
