I got my new Lyman 311291 mould. I was leary of it being low quaility[as some have said they had got a few not up to being as they once were],but it is and cast a very nice bullet!
I got a 309 sizer die,for an old model 45 sizer. I have never used one of these sizers and was worried i would not be up to setting it up? Low and behold,i did it! The thing works great and is not messy, like cookie cutting?
Here is my "Don't know"? The 311291 has 3 lube rings and to seat it to only the bottom of my 308 Win. cases neck,it will have one out of the case? What do i do with this?Seat them to the last ring or leave it stick out???? I guess i should have got a 311672 or a 31299 mould!

Seat so the front edge of the driving band (that's the front one) just is slightly engraved, just touches or is slightly off the Leade of the throat. The leade is the begining of the rifling. Part or all of the GC may or may not stick down into the case. A medium burning powder like 4895 is a good one to start with. Start at 25 gr with a 1/2 gr dacron filler and work up in 1/2 gr increments until you get the accuracy you want. If the bottom lube groove is exposed inside the case the dacron also keeps the powder off it and from getting contaminated. You might try a .311 sizer also.

The 311291 is a great bullet choice. I still have mine from the 1960's, along with my 45 lube sizer from same date. I have ran many 10's of thousands thru this guy, 30 cal, 38, and mostly 45 auto.
I also have a Saeco sizer but hardly use it. I have the Lyman heater--go figure it has matching holes for the Saeco but not for the Lyman 45. I just clamp it on and it works great. I mostly use Carnuba Red lube and it needs to be heated. A little off track...
If the lube grooves stick out don't worry. Just keep them clean in plastic boxes.
You may want to look into best sizing diameter. I have .310 and .311, depending on gun.

The 311291 bullet is a fine one. Here it is, 5 shots at 100 yds out of my 308 Win.
