I held an old winchester 73 25-20 a week ago. It had a Tang site on it and I loved it. I have a Marlin 1894 that I bought from the same guy. I would like to put a tang site on the Marlin, and looked at the posts on here quite a bit. it looks like my choices are Marbles and Lyman from what everyone said. I'm not real excited about drilling and tapping, but I will if I have too.

I just want to know if you folks have a preference between the two, and if one of them would bolt right on the rifle without drilling. Also, I want to double check part numbers.

Marbles: http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=31771/avs%7CMake~~Model_1=Marlin__1894/ttver=2/Product/TANG_SIGHTS

Lyman: http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=7961/avs%7CManufacturer_1=LYMAN/ttver=2/Product/NO__2_TANG_SIGHT (This does not specifically mentiion the 1894)

Do I have to order different screws? anything else?

Thanks in advance guys.

I have the Marbles on 2 different guns and really like them. You can also get the Merit #4 adjustable aperature, 10/32 thread Stock #:571-000-002, Mfr:MERIT, Mfr Part #:41032, Retail Price:$48.99

This really makes a difference as shooting conditions change.

My marlin m1894 is drilled for a tang sight. I do not know about the modern builds.
Mine mounts using the tang screw and a hole about 1 1/2" forward of it.
A longer tang screw may be needed and a screw to replace the "set" screw forward of it.
An alternate receiver sight will mount on the left rear of the receiver but mine is not drilled for it.
lyman, redfield and williams are available for receiver mount

Have a Marble tang sight on my Marlin 94. Smith said Marbles were adjustable for both windage and elevation, Lyman for just elevation.
