Hi All a while ago I posted about using hollowpoints or flat nose boolits for hunting in my 44/40 Win 94
I tested these at an impact velocity of 1300fps into 2 25L plastic containers full of water placed end to end bollits tested were a NOE 429421 and a NOE 432200 alloy was 50/50 WW PB air cooled
both boolits penetrated the first container and were caught in the second
the first photo shows the boolit catcher
2nd photo is the recovered 429421 weights were from left to right 152gr 168gr 144gr and a unfired boolit which weighs 237gr
the 3rd photo is the 432200 recovered weights were 214gr 207gr and unfired 214gr
the last picture is the sharpnel I recovered from the first container the nose section of the 429421 which were quite large peices that would do some damage by themselves
so based on these results I think I'll use the 432200 on pigs and keep the 429421 for goats
I think the 429421 might hold together a bit better at a lower impact velocity so at 100m were the speed has probably dropped to 1000fps which I imagine would be close to what these loads will be doing at 100m

I would try that 429421 without the HP and see what you get.I would think that it would be the better hog bullet than the 200 grain bullet in the long run.

Good job on the research. I'm no expert on lead hollowpoints, but if those things turn into shrapnel when they hit water, there is no way I'd shoot a big critter with one. I suppose your goats aren't very durable so it may be just fine. I'd be afraid of a rib or shoulder explosion on impact.
It would be nice to shoot the jugs at 100m to test your theory, though.
