I've got an unopened 4 pound canister of WSF that I'll never put in shotgun hulls and I want to load 357 and 41 mag with it. Specific to WSF and the .357, I've seen a couple of loads mentioned:
1.) in .38 spl cases a "magnum only" loading of 7.0 gr under and a 148 gr DEWC 1.36 OAL, from "zxcvbob".
2.) 158 gr "RF cast boolit" on top of 7.9-8.0 gr of WSF with an average muzzle velocity of 1325 fps, from "Down South". (he declares this to be a top-end load in his GP-100)
I've seen it mentioned that WSF does not "download" well. Comments?
I've seen references made that folks have used it for 38 spl and 45 LC but I don't see any loads listed by Hodgdon on their web site. I understand before Winchester powders were bought by Hodgdon there was data in their guides. I'm interested in specific charge and boolit (and/or condomed) load combinations as well as your thoughts on those posted above. I also understand that Speer has or has had data but I don't want to buy another manual. As a last resort I guess I could load some 40 S&W, I just hate chasing brass....
