I had cataract surgery, and wanted to get back into casting, but I was having trouble even with the simple seeing tasks like boolit inpection. I had some readers, but had bought some that were too powerful. I am going to get noline progressive bifocal lenses that are clear on top and readers on the bottom.

I found I could read with the readers, but computer use was a problem, and anything at arms length. I also didn't want to get new bifocal lenses until my eyes settled down. I found a good solution with the safety glasses below. I also remember someone else posting about casting with one lense out of his regular glasses and having a close call.

I practiced watching tv and reading a book at the same time last night, and it worked pretty well. If you do a search, you can find glasses with higher powered readers than the source below, but they cost a little more.

The glasses linked to above have are the bifocal type where part of the lens is plain glass and the bifocal part lets you see closer.

These glasses http://www.envirosafetyproducts.com/category/Mag-Safe_Whole_Lens_Magnifying_Safety_Glass are full lens magnifers i.e. no bifocal part. They are also ANSI rated safety glasses. They may work for you in both casting and for shooting. For the latter get a strength that allow you to best see the front sight.

I use the stick-on diopters on my safety glasses at work, that way I can have several different styles and several different magnifications for varying work distance (up close vs. arm's length).

I have a lighted magnflying glass light on a retractable arm that clamps to my bench works great for bullet inspection. I also model railroad in n scale so i have one lite on each bench. well worth the $30.00 each I spent on the lights.

I found the +150 at Wallyworld for about $5/a pair....I have then in the gayrage
the gunroom the casting area, gun/range bag and in my work vehicle. Now I can see when I work on small things safely. My far sighted eyes have leveled off for a couple years now. I'm sure it will get worse as I MATURE into the golden ages
