OK it's your lucky day at the bench next to you is a guys shooting the same caliber as you. Around him there is a pile of once fire fresh out of the factory box cases on the ground. So you ask him the million dollar question. "you picking up your brass." "No I don't reload, you can have it if you want it." Now you start picking up the mountain of brass around his table and you look at the head stamp and low and behold it your favorite cartridge. What would be your top 3 favorites to find.

Any brass i can lay my hands on goes in the bucket, either scrap yellow brass at $1.80/lb or if i find a large lot of new shiny brass in a caliber i don't load i sort by headstamp and save for trading. That said, .44 Mag is my highest volume of reloads, then maybe i'd like to find a neat little (big) pile of any Weatherby brass cuz it's so dang expensive and i'd be able to sell it in a heartbeat and finally i'd like to find the bum that leaves behind all his .32 Win Spl cases for me to reload and follow him around:lol:

+1 on that. No one at my club takes their brass, heck they barley clean it up.

I take all, ugly, rim fire, berdan primed, or otherwise unuseable brass goes to the scrap yard with the steel and aluminum.

Last time out I had 100 lbs of junk brass @ $2.01 a pound. The guy I deal with will also trade for soft lead and wheel weights usually ~2:1.

The good brass I keep for trading or if its a caliber I'd like to own one day I set it aside.

Nothing is wasted :D

That being said, my answer would be 45 Colt, either Winchester or *-*
