I'm getting this mold from Midway. For around $25 why not try it? My H&R 20" 45-70 has a .459 groove. I'm thinking of using up about 16 lbs. of IMR 5010, maybe somebody has some experience with this combo or this boolit anyway? Also, how could this pointy huge boolit not be a good big game boolit? I know pointy boolits aren't usually good due to penciling, but it's so big already why would it even need to expand? I'm thinking of it for a maybe 150 yd. black bear killa.

I have that mold and it casts closer to .457 than .459 on mine. You will need to cast a handful and mic them to be sure they are large enough for your application and I suspect if yours is like mine you'll end up beagling the mold to get it large enough to make work.

On the 5010 question, Magnum primers and or a kicker charge are needed or you are going to scatter unburnt garbage over the first 15-20 yards downrange.

Mine casts .459+ with Lyman # 2 alloy. I double-dip in liquid alox and they shoot just fine from my BC.

Yep! I wonder if Lee sent one out undersized? This post gives me reason to wonder:
