I bought this mould from Texas Black Jack over on the Ruger Forum .com

He said it was `bout 10yrs. old & like new , I don`t think it was ever heated up !!

Got it degreased & cleaned up & lubed with Bullshops lube & preheated it to 350-375f & started casting , took a bit to get the rest of the grease to come out of the steel (like new 1s do) but when it finished, purty boolits started coming & it likes 680f

& I`ll say when a Lyman mould is right it`s a pure pleasure to cast with !!!

It drops em .311x.3115" with isotope alloy & they fall from the cavitys !!!!

These have a # of lino added so probably a smell larger.

Looks like you got a good one! Nice looking boolits.

I have a 311041 that is closer to 30 years old and casts very well. I used to really like the old Lyman iron moulds. I have several and they all cast well.

Ain't it cool when you get a mould like that?

Not long ago, I bought a used, two-cavity Lyman 358495 and cast a few boolits just to check it out. This afternoon, I decided to cast enough for a range session. When it reached its optimum operating temperature, boolits would jump out.

I have a Lachmiller clone of that bullet probably 40 years old and it works pretty much the same way. Except the boolits are more like .313 when dropped.

You have to be careful when sizing so as to not bend them.

Gonna get a .310 die for all my .30 cal sizing anyway.

What rifle caliber do you plan on using theses boolits? If you had a chance to load and shoot these how did they shoot?

If I was limited to only one 30 cal. boolit - this might be the one.
