solder ?

hey i got a roll of solder at a yard sale i gave 50 cents for it it weighs a pound but the outside of the metal is rusted real bad and i can't tell what percent of tin it is what do i do ?

Most roll solder is either 50/50 or 60/40. Some electronic solders are 63/37. Check if it has a flux core or solid. If solid, use as is to add to your alloy.
If it has a flux core, then smelt it into its own ingots to burn off the flux.
