My mother has this old gun and asked me what it is worth. I have no idea, but thought I would check with you guys, the experts. It is a Marlin 30-30 that has an octogon barrel and "Model 1893" behind the hammer. It appears to be in fair condition. Any information helps.

Hard to say, price is all over the place. enter the model and you will get lots of listings

Llikely as not, you're looking at $250 to $550, depending upon a LOT of variables.
It could be less, or it could be a lot more.
I have several (20+)Square Bolt Marlins, 1893s and 93s, along with 1936s, and 36s.
One long rifle is a fence post, three are about NIB, and the rest fall in between.
If you could provide some photos, I'm sure learned folks here on the forum will be more than happy to discuss it's attributes and probable value.
If she's wanting to sell, I'd be privileged to be in line for first right of refusal.
