Contender Rear Sight__Question

Is this rear sight only good for target shooting. Would you put this on a 10" or 14" bull barrel.

Not when I could replace it with this Williams WGRS with a Fire Sight Ghost Ring Slide.

that is the sight I have on my ssk 45-70 barrel it is a target sight for the long shots works very good. I would think it would be more for a 14" but will work just fine on the 10". and if you ever think you don't need it PM me and we will talk about me taking it off your hands.

The Contender Silhouette rear sight (what you have) is very nice. I have one on my 10" 357 Maximum barrel, and like it much better than the standard Contender rear sight.

I had a very similar sight on a 30-30 super 14 barrel difference was mine was a peep!

Think it was a williams?? Very accurate and very repeatable for range chnages.

Back around 1985 when I was shooting sanctioned IHMSA ,my first unlimited gun was a contender super 14 cal 30-30 with that sight installed , my eyes were better then than they are now and the sight worked very well.

Not sure the same one works on a 10" and 14" barrel. I have one for a 14" barrel. It wouldn't fit on a custom 10" for some reason. It was a T/C custom shop 10" barrel.

In the early eighties, I had that sight on my fourteen inch, 44 mag. barrel.

I have that sight on my 14" Contender 41 mag barrel I purchased used a couple years back. It shoots well for me in both the field and at the range. As the saying goes "If it ain't broke..."
