I was sighting in my .22 Hornet a while ago and decided to get out my .357 Handi and see how it did shooting at 40yds. I was shooting a Lee TL 158gr SWC with 4.8gr of Red Dot. Considering I don't have a bench I think it did pretty well. A good shooting bench would shrink the group I'm sure. Hopefully my 100yd backstop will be done next shooting session so I can try my rifles at longer range.

Nice! For some reason I think I have to have one of the H&R rifles in .44 Mag. Can't wait to get it and start loading for it.

Is the Handi ( complete rifle ) made in 357 Mag. now ? At one time the only way to have one was to send a receiver back for fitting with a barrel.

I bought mine as a complete rifle. It had no sights mounted but had a scope mount. I put a reflex sight on it first and then ended up getting 4x scope for it. Both sights worked well but my old eyes needed a scope. BTW, the .357 Handi came with a synthetic stock not wood.

Armorer,

H&R or NEF, or Marlin, or Remington or whoever may not be making the .44 mag barrels in any shorter twist than 1 in 38". They weren't when I had my extra barrels fitted to my SB2 frame. This could also be a problem with any barrels that you can find elsewhere. I got the .444 barrel (1 in 20") instead. I had wanted to make a .445 supermag barrel out of the .44 mag barrel.

Ben--A friend of mine bought a .357 Handi new last summer, ordered it through a local dealer and got it in about 2 weeks.

OK, the reason I'm asking is ......I'm fairly certain that a couple of yrs. ago, there were no complete factory rifles in 357 Mag. Your only option was to send them a receiver for barreling to 357 mg.

Hmmm.. I'm not certain what the twist rate is to tell the truth. I have been looking at one on gunbroker and trying to either talk myself into or out of it. It's a
SB1-S44. My thought is that I would like to make it a dedicated cast shooter, and supress it for use on hogs at 100yds or less. I figured a 300+ gr pb boolit ought to do a number on them.
This has a 22" bbl and another model, the Trapper has an 18.75" bbl. Haven't decided which one I want yet.
Sorry for the hijack!
