I played around with a bit of breach seating Last week-end.

I have a rather long chambered neck and normal length necked cases.(sudo weatherby freebore I presume)

Questions are.

Is it o.k. with smokeless powders?? (up to full blast)

I am seating the bullet so it is still fits in the unsized case neck when loaded with a tuft of dacron/hrdrofill over the powder so it will compress down when the case is chambered.

I could set plain cast into the bore more but I have a big free bore before the smaller throat.Errgh

The paper patched seemed to work o.k. althou still dismal results. Working on a few things.

Could I use jacketed stuff as well???
I know the pressure would be higher and thus I would have to start lower.

Planning on some plain cast as well.

I just don't want to end up ringing the chamber or something worse.

Thought I'd better verify before I put the firing pin through the back of my head or worse have to live with being the wanker who blew himself up with hair brained ideas.

Thoughts ..facts appreciated.

I do this all the time when I am looking for max accuracy, except NO filler. I use a powder that will give me as near as possible to 100% load density. I was able to get just over 3000fps with MOA accuracy in a 300RUM this way.
