I was looking at buying a 45/75 Winchester Reproduction .
But I was wondering about brass .
I was thinking it could be made from 348 Win blown out

I don't have a cart. conversion chart .

The Handlader's Manual of Cartridge Conversions says "MAKE FROM: .50 Sharps (Bell). Cut case to 1.90". Anneal. Form in single form die. Trim to length (1.895"). F/L size. Chamfer. "

COTW (10th) says "Useable cases can be made from 348 Winchester cases." It provides no further information as to what needs to be done to do so, and to me the choice of the word "Useable" is not encouraging.

With the rifles coming in how much do you want to bet that if Hornaday isn't making it, they will?

I have made lots of 45/75 cases from 348 brass. They have worked very well. The 348 win is a strong case. I also use them for 50/70 and have gotten over 50 reloads before mouths started to split. The 45/75 for the 76 Win is a low pressure proposition and the 348 cases hold up well.

I use the .348 for .50 Government, and it generally works well, but the rim is shy, and may be a little balky. I will try new Starline ($22.60 per 20) .50-70 the next time I try to make 45-75 WCF, which is derived from the .50-70.
The 348 is tough brass, and will need a good anneal or two before it fully forms.
The RCBS tapered case forming expander is only a tapered rod in an expander die.
