Just a quick question, where are you guy's getting 16 to 1 lead alloy for those pointier bullet designs. I've checked several suppliers and 20 to 1 is the hardest listed without going to the lyman #2 alloy. I'd like to try some certified alloy rather than mixing my own. A source for 16 pts lead and 1 part tin is what I'm looking for.

I beleive Lyman #2 mixed with equal part lead equals 16/1 This may be in Glen Frywell notes. Elmer Keith used this alloy i beleive the hardness is 12?

Lyman #2 has 90 lead, 5 antimony and 5 tin. 16/1 is lead to tin only. The way to increase tin is to get the bars of pure or get tin/lead solder.

Rotometals says they will blend alloys to your specification. Email them ...

Not Even Close ... in percentages or hardness.

I find it is very close with regard to hardness on my tester. Lyman cut with PB 50/50% is 95-2.5-2.5
I've used it and 96-2-2 and 97-1.5-1.5
The difference is not that much running from about 15 BHN down to 11 BHN. The 16/1 fits in there nicely and all shoot about as well with the Money Bullet I like.

Just one more man's opinion.

Contact John Walters , I believe he does 16-1, also check with BACO , and Midway.
PS you can also get tin to add to 20-1 alloy and bring it to 16-1
